Mai Thai Deli brings authentic Thai flavors to Wandsworth's Ram Quarter with beautifully decorated interiors that transport you straight to Thailand. The portions are generous and the dumplings are a standout - you'll want to make this your go-to spot when you need a proper dumpling fix. Don't skip the pineapple fried rice chicken served in an actual pineapple bowl, it's as charming as it is delicious.
Authentic Thai with Generous Portions
Mai Thai Deli has quickly established itself as a solid Thai option in Wandsworth, and it's easy to see why. The restaurant occupies a lovely space in the Ram Quarter development, with decor that genuinely evokes the feeling of being in Thailand rather than just another generic Asian fusion spot. The service is warm and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.
The menu covers all the Thai classics, but the dumplings are where this place truly shines. The steamed pork, prawn, and water chestnut dumplings are substantial, beautifully filled, and come with a sweet and salty dipping sauce that hits all the right notes. The pineapple fried rice chicken is another standout - served in a hollowed-out pineapple half, it's packed with chicken, sultanas, peppers, onions, and cashew nuts. It's refreshing, flavorful, and the portion size is more than enough to share.
Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you're getting. A dinner for two with a bottle of wine came to around £73, which is great value in this part of London. The Terrific Tuesdays offer (50% off wine and prosecco) makes it an even better deal if you're planning a midweek visit. This is the kind of place locals will keep coming back to, and it's well worth seeking out if you're in Wandsworth.
