Real Czech pub cooking and tank Pilsner in the shadow of Charles Bridge
If you want to eat Czech food the way Czechs actually eat it, Lokál U Bílé kuželky is your spot in Malá Strana. Yes, it's close to Charles Bridge and yes, tourists find it — but the locals haven't abandoned it, which tells you something. The beer is the headline act: tank Pilsner Urquell, served the proper way with a thick head, and it's genuinely some of the best pours you'll get in Prague. The beer tanks in the lower section of the restaurant look like metal airships — a nice touch.
The food is unapologetically traditional. Go for the tripe soup with marjoram (it's a classic, done right with large chunks), the homemade Talián sausage with freshly grated horseradish, or the bull sweetbreads fried in breadcrumb. If you want something a bit more refined, the Paprika Chicken or chicken breast with mushroom seasoning are solid picks. Pub snacks like pickled herring and Prague ham are perfect if you just want to graze with your beer.
The interior is all wooden panelling, Thonet chairs, robust tables, and quirky wall engravings — a stag's head here, a dragon bearing a tray of glasses there.
