Solid neighborhood bistro with character
Le Bistrot de l'Échanson is a pleasant surprise tucked inside the Mercure La Défense hotel. The modern, minimalist decor with that distinctive chain-link wall feature gives it character without feeling pretentious. The service is attentive and warm, with Alexandra and her team making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.
The food is where this place truly shines. The spiced veal tajine-style is a standout dish that you won't find at your average bistro—well-prepared and full of flavor. The menu changes seasonally four times a year, and they rotate a daily special that stays on the slate for five weeks, so if you find something you love, you can come back and enjoy it again. The wine list is solid with about 20 bottles available by the glass, updated twice a year.
It's not a flashy spot, but it's exactly what you want in a neighborhood bistro: good food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Perfect for a business dinner or a relaxed evening with friends. The hours are limited (closed Fridays and Saturdays), so plan accordingly, but if you're in the area during open times, it's worth a visit.
