Authentic Spanish vibes and legendary croquetas
Pizarro on Bermondsey Street is Jose Pizarro's second restaurant, and it's every bit as impressive as his original tapas bar. The space feels like a proper Spanish bodega with its dark wood paneling and open kitchen where you can watch the action unfold. The food is exactly what you'd expect from the "Godfather of Spanish Cuisine" â unpretentious, passionate, and deeply rooted in quality ingredients.
The croquetas are legendary for a reason â those golden cylinders of bechamel with prawns or ham are absolutely perfect. Don't skip the Padron peppers, which come perfectly salted and slightly charred, or the pan con tomate that's so simple it's almost ridiculous. For groups, the whole suckling pig is the centerpiece that everyone talks about, though the Iberico ham and grilled octopus are equally impressive. The wine list is extensive and the staff clearly know their stuff.
It's dog-friendly too, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're here for a quick drink at the bar or a proper meal, Pizarro delivers an authentic Spanish dining experience that's hard to beat in London.
