Henley Arms

Henley Arms is the kind of pub you find when you’re exploring North Woolwich – unassuming, a bit worn around the edges, but undeniably charming in its own right. The exterior might look like it’s seen better days, but step inside and you’ll find a cozy, carpeted space with white walls, a few prints, and the usual pub essentials: a jukebox, a TV, and a bar that’s seen plenty of laughter and conversation. It’s not fancy, but it’s honest – a true estate pub where the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.

The drinks selection is straightforward, with a couple of handpumps that occasionally feature real ale in the summer, though don’t expect a serious craft beer selection. Food is hit or miss; on my last visit in the afternoon, there was nothing on offer, so don’t count on a meal unless you check ahead. That said, it’s a great spot to grab a pint, chat with the locals, and soak up the neighborhood vibe without any pretension.

If you’re looking for a polished, modern bar experience, this isn’t it. But if you want to feel like you’ve stumbled into a real London pub that’s part of the community, Henley Arms delivers. It’s not perfect – the decor is basic and the offerings are limited – but there’s something endearing about a place that feels like it’s been around forever and isn’t trying to be anything else.
