Harrison 1933 is a two-floor cocktail bar on Recoletos that splits its personality beautifully — upstairs feels like a swanky Vegas hotel lounge where you watch the bartenders work their magic, while the downstairs is an industrial loft with exposed brick, DJ sessions, and live music. The cocktail menu is built around famous personalities, and the food — especially the legendary bikini with cecina — is surprisingly good for a place that's really about the drinks.
A two-floor Recoletos cocktail bar where every drink is inspired by a famous personality and the bikini with cecina is the stuff of legend.
Go after 10 PM for the full dim-lit atmosphere, and sit upstairs at the bar on weeknights if you want a quieter experience.
Two bars in one: Vegas glamour upstairs, industrial party downstairs
Harrison 1933 sits right on Paseo de Recoletos and pulls off a neat trick: it's two completely different bars stacked on top of each other. Upstairs, you're in what feels like a sophisticated Vegas hotel lounge — elegant to the bone, dim lighting, and a bar designed so you can watch every move the bartender makes. Downstairs, the vibe shifts entirely: exposed brick, industrial loft energy, DJ sessions, and live music in a more club-like setting. The name itself is a nod to the Cullen-Harrison Act of 1933, which ended Prohibition in the US — so yes, they take their drinks seriously.
The cocktail menu is the real draw, with every drink inspired by a famous personality. It's creative without being gimmicky, and the execution is consistently solid. What surprised me is the food: it's a short, light menu designed to complement the cocktails, but the bikini with cecina is genuinely outstanding — easily one of the best bar snacks in the neighborhood. Oysters, gildas, and a mollete de pringá round things out if you're hungry.
Go after 10 PM if you want the full atmosphere — that's when the dim lighting and intimate setting really come into their own. Weekends get busy, and the downstairs turns into more of a party with the DJ. If you're looking for a quiet conversation, aim for a weeknight and grab a spot upstairs at the bar.
