Natural wines and unpretentious tapas in Vauban
Figure has become a staple for Marseille's wine-loving crowd, and for good reason. The space itself is a delight — those high chairs lined up against the walls and the retro 50s counter give it this authentic, unpretentious feel that you don't see everywhere. It's not fancy, but that's exactly what makes it work. You'll find young professionals and regulars chatting over natural wines, and the kitchen keeps things simple but satisfying with tapas-style plates that are perfect for sharing.
The food is where they really shine. The octopus legs in Caesar sauce are surprisingly good — creamy, tender, and not too heavy. The spaghetti with beef cheek is another winner, rich and comforting without being over the top. Portions are modest but meant for sharing, so order a few plates and a couple of glasses to make a meal of it. The wine list focuses on natural wines, and the staff is knowledgeable without being pushy — they'll guide you without making you feel like you're back in school.

L'espace lui-même est un délice — ces hautes chaises alignées contre les murs et le comptoir rétro des années 50 lui donnent cette authenticité décontractée qu'on ne trouve pas partout. Ce n'est pas chic, mais c'est exactement ce qui fonctionne ici. Vous y trouverez des jeunes professionnels et des habitués qui discutent autour de vins naturels, et la cuisine garde les choses simples mais satisfaisantes avec des plats style tapas parfaits pour partager.
Côté assiette, ils brillent vraiment. Les tentacules de poulpe en sauce César sont étonnamment bons — crémeux, tendres, et pas trop lourds. Les spaghettis aux joues de bœuf sont un autre succès, riches et réconfortants sans être excessifs. Les portions sont modestes mais faites pour être partagées, alors commandez quelques plats et quelques verres pour faire un repas. La carte des vins se concentre sur les vins naturels, et le personnel sait de quoi il parle sans être pédant — ils vous orientent sans vous prendre de haut.
