The Exhibit has been holding down the fort opposite Balham Station for over two decades, and it's easy to see why it's survived while so many others haven't. It's not trying to be just one thing — it's a cocktail bar, a brunch spot, a cinema, a comedy venue, and a private hire space all crammed into three floors. That sounds like it shouldn't work, but somehow it does. The cocktail bar is the real draw, especially during the daily half-price happy hour from 4 to 7pm, when you can get genuinely decent drinks without destroying your wallet. Weekend brunch is also a proper affair — expect a busy, buzzy room and food that's solid if not groundbreaking.
Where The Exhibit shines is in its flexibility. You can start with a coffee and laptop in the morning, come back for after-work drinks on the terrace, and end up at a comedy night or DJ set later.
