Enjoy Cafetaria — also known as Sandwich City — is the kind of place you'd walk past without a second glance, and that would be your loss. Tucked on Dennenlaan in Zwanenburg, it's a classic Dutch snack bar that quietly goes above and beyond the call of duty. The kroketten come out properly golden and crispy, not the sad, lukewarm variety you get at some late-night automat. And then there's the sushi — yes, sushi at a snack bar — which is surprisingly fresh and genuinely decent. It shouldn't work, but it does.
The atmosphere is zero-fuss, fluorescent-lit, and entirely without pretension. You order at the counter, you wait a few minutes, and you leave with a bag of food that does exactly what it promises. The milkshakes are thick and sweet, the poffertjes make a solid dessert if you're not ready to go home yet, and the staff are fast and friendly. Free parking out front is a genuine luxury in this part of the world, and the place is wheelchair accessible too.
Is it the best meal in the Amsterdam area? No, and it doesn't pretend to be. Enjoy Cafetaria — aussi connu sous le nom de Sandwich City — est le genre d'endroit où l'on passe sans y prêter attention, et c'est dommage. Niché sur la Dennenlaan à Zwanenburg, c'est un snack bar néerlandais classique qui fait franchement plus que ce qu'on attend de lui. Les kroketten arrivent bien dorées et croustillantes, pas la version tiède et triste qu'on trouve dans certains distributeurs de nuit. Et puis il y a les sushis — oui, des sushis dans un snack bar — qui sont étonnamment frais et tout à fait corrects. Ça ne devrait pas marcher, mais ça marche.
L'ambiance est sans chichis, éclairée au néon, et totalement sans prétention. On commande au comptoir, on attend quelques minutes, et on repart avec un sac qui tient ses promesses.
