Da Moreno is your go-to for serious Neapolitan pizza in West Ealing, where a wood-fired oven hits 500C to cook pies in under a minute. The menu is refreshingly simple—just pizza and garlic bread, no distractions. You'll find a loyal local crowd here, many of them regulars who get greeted by name by the chef. Skip if you're looking for a full dinner with pasta or dessert, but stick around for the sourdough base and authentic Italian ingredients.
Solid Neapolitan pizza, simple and local
Da Moreno Pizzeria delivers on its promise of authentic Neapolitan pizza in a no-frills setting on Northfield Avenue. The star here is the wood-fired oven, imported from Italy and cranking out at nearly 500C, which gives the pizzas that signature charred, blistered crust in under a minute. The sourdough base, fermented for 48 hours, has a lovely soft and pliable texture with just the right amount of char. The Diavola pizza was solid—good tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and the ndujia added a nice kick, though the toppings felt a touch generic compared to the base quality.
Service is friendly but can be a bit haphazard; the lone waitress sometimes disappears for intervals, making it tricky to catch her for extra drinks. The dining room is small and brightly lit with just a handful of tables, so expect it to be bustling during peak hours. It's not quite in the league of nearby L'Oro di Napoli or Santa Maria, but for a quick, honest slice of Italy without the fuss, Da Moreno gets the job done.
