About the Vibe

Colbert is your go-to Parisian-style brasserie on Sloane Square, perfect for people-watching from its corner table or terrace. While the food is solid but unremarkable for the price, the breakfast scene is where this place truly shines—think classic French fare in a buzzy, authentic setting. Skip the dinner if you're after culinary excitement, but do stop by for morning coffee or pre-theatre drinks when the atmosphere is at its most lively.

Solid Parisian brasserie with great location, best for breakfast

Colbert brings a slice of Paris to Chelsea's Sloane Square, and while it may not revolutionize your dining experience, it delivers exactly what you'd expect from a reliable brasserie. The location is its trump card—right on the corner next to The Royal Court Theatre, making it ideal for people-watching and pre-theatre gatherings. The space feels authentically French with its classic brasserie decor, though it can get quite buzzy, especially in the bar area.

The food is where things get a bit complicated. The traditional French menu is decent and suits all age groups, but it's relatively ordinary given the prime location and premium pricing. Your best bet is to come for breakfast, which receives much more enthusiastic recommendations from regulars. Dinner service can be patchy, and while the atmosphere is lively, it sometimes tips into being too noisy for intimate conversation. Service is generally good but can be inconsistent during busy periods.

That said, Colbert remains a solid choice for a casual meeting, a quick coffee, or grabbing a drink before the theatre. It's not a destination for food lovers seeking innovation, but it does deliver the reliable French brasserie experience that Londoners have come to expect from the Wolseley Group. Just manage your expectations accordingly.
