About the Vibe

Carmel is Queen's Park's answer to a proper neighbourhood restaurant that actually feels like one. From the team behind Berber & Q, this place trades the loud, chaotic energy for something more grown-up—think candlelit tables, low-key music, and food that's just as bold but infinitely more refined. The Eastern Mediterranean menu runs the gamut from morning flatbreads fresh from the tabun oven to evening grills that make you want to share everything. It's the kind of spot where you'll find locals lingering over wine long after last orders, and honestly, that's exactly how it should be.

Queen's Park's neighbourhood gem with serious flavour

Carmel hits that sweet spot between a proper neighbourhood joint and somewhere you'd actually want to bring visitors. The space feels genuinely welcoming—Grace Dent nailed it when she called it "low-watt, twinkly joy." You'll find yourself ordering the turmeric cauliflower and the slow-grilled urfa chilli chicken, then wondering why you ever settled for anything less. The service is friendly without being overbearing, and the wine list actually makes sense with the food.

It's not perfect—the bathroom music is a bit weird, and you'll want to book ahead on weekends—but that's par for the course in Queen's Park. What sets Carmel apart is that it feels like it belongs here, not like it's trying to be something it's not. The flatbreads from the tabun oven are genuinely special, and the dinner menu strikes a nice balance between meat, veg, and seafood without trying too hard.

If you're looking for a spot that works for brunch, lunch, or dinner without feeling like you're in a chain, this is it. The team clearly cares about what they're doing, and it shows in every dish.
