Caravelle is El Raval's answer to the modern brunch-and-craft-beer scene, serving up everything from specialty coffee to house-brewed IPA in a sleek, unpretentious space. What sets them apart is their commitment to making everything in-house—from the brioche burger buns to their signature hot sauces, and even their own nano brewery brewing Galactic Pale Ale and Mixtape right on-site. Skip the tourist traps and come for the Cuban sandwich with slow-cooked pork belly or the La Marzocco coffee that locals actually queue for.
Solid brunch spot with house-brewed beer
Caravelle has carved out a solid niche in El Raval's dining scene, offering a refreshingly straightforward approach to brunch and casual dining. The kitchen's philosophy of making everything from scratch really shows—the brioche buns are genuinely superior to most places, and the hot sauces have a nice kick without overwhelming the food. The Cuban sandwich is a standout, with tender slow-cooked pork belly that melts in your mouth, and the roast pumpkin salad is a perfect light option when you're not in the mood for meat.
The coffee program deserves special mention. Using beans from Nomad, a respected Barcelona roaster, and pulling shots on a La Marzocco Linea machine, they've got the technical side down pat. The baristas are knowledgeable and happy to chat about their single-origin offerings. For beer lovers, the house-brewed options are surprisingly good for a restaurant brewery—Galactic Pale Ale is smooth and tropical, while Mixtape is a crisp pilsner that pairs perfectly with their tacos.
It's not perfect—the space can get noisy during peak brunch hours, and service can slow down when they're swamped. But for a place that's clearly run by people who care about what they're serving, Caravelle delivers consistent quality without the pretension you'd expect from a trendy spot.
