Serious wine, zero pretension — Amsterdam's best-kept wine bar on the Nes
If you're serious about wine but can't stand the stuffiness that usually comes with it, Bubbles & Wines on the Nes is your spot. The real draw here is their wine-by-the-glass program — over 55 options, all kept in top condition thanks to a proper conservation system. That means you can try premium bottles you'd never order by the glass elsewhere, or build a flight of 3-4 half-glasses organized by grape, region, or quality. The staff is genuinely knowledgeable and happy to guide you, not the least bit snobby about it.
The food side is simple but does exactly what it should: artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and fresh bread that complement the wine without trying to steal the show. It's the kind of place where locals actually go — after-work drinks on a Tuesday, a relaxed weekend catch-up with friends. The space is small, and when it fills up it can feel a bit cramped, but the warmth of the room and the quality in the glass more than make up for it. Just a five-minute walk from Dam Square, but a world away from the tourist crowds.
