Cosmopolitan neighborhood gem with real character
Bonbourg has quickly become one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants in Nantes. The concept is simple but executed with real care: think cosmopolitan small plates that reflect the owners' travels around the world, mixed with nods to their British background. The eggplant caviar starter is a standout—creamy, smoky, and perfect for sharing. For mains, the vegetarian burger surprised me; it's not just a meat substitute but a genuinely delicious option with thoughtful flavors.
The atmosphere hits that sweet spot between neighborhood casual and slightly elevated. You'll find locals mixed with visitors, and the service is consistently friendly without being over-the-top. Prices are reasonable for what you get—the lunch menu around €21 gives you solid value. The spot works well for a quick lunch, an after-work drink with friends, or a relaxed dinner.
