Bang Bang Oriental Foodhall is exactly what London needed – a proper Asian food hall that doesn't feel like a watered-down version of what you'd find in Asia. Located in Colindale, it's a bit of a trek from central London, but that's part of its charm; this is where locals go when they want real variety without the tourist traps. The space itself is genuinely impressive – bright, airy, and surprisingly well-organized for something with 25+ vendors.
The food quality is where this place really shines. I've been back multiple times for the dim sum at Royal China One 68 – those salted egg yolk buns are a revelation, and the prawn dumplings are some of the best I've had outside of Hong Kong. The ramen from Oishi Tasty Ramen is equally solid, with rich broths that actually taste like they've been simmered for hours. What I appreciate most is that the vendors seem genuinely invested in their craft; they'll chat with you about ingredients and make recommendations without being pushy.
It's not perfect – the sheer size can feel overwhelming if you're on a tight schedule, and some stalls are definitely better than others. But that's part of the adventure.
