About the Vibe

Alhaji Suya isn't your typical sit-down affair—think of it as the best takeaway spot in East Greenwich that you'll actually want to linger at. They've taken the Hausa suya tradition and cranked up the heat with their signature tozo suya: fatty beef chunks that hit you with a smoky punch and a yaji spice blend that's absolutely addictive. It's casual, it's loud, and it's absolutely worth the trip. The atmosphere leans more toward a bustling takeaway hatch than a restaurant, with just a few bench seats and a constant flow of people grabbing food to go. But that's part of the charm—you're here for the food, not the ambiance. The suya is cooked on a charcoal grill then finished on electric for that perfect crust, and the yaji seasoning is the star of the show. If you're looking for authentic Nigerian street food that doesn't compromise on flavor, this is your spot. Skip the fancy dinner reservations and come hungry, ready to eat with your hands.

Spicy, Authentic Suya in a Casual Setting

Alhaji Suya delivers some of the most genuinely spicy and flavorful suya I've had in London. The tozo suya is the star—those fatty beef chunks are deeply smoky with a yaji spice blend that hits you in the best way possible. It's not a fancy dining experience; you'll find yourself grabbing a bench seat or taking it to go, but the food more than makes up for the lack of restaurant polish.

What sets this place apart is the commitment to authenticity. The suya is cooked on charcoal first, then finished on electric for that perfect crust, and the yaji seasoning is clearly made in-house with care. You won't find a more honest representation of Hausa street food in Greenwich. It's casual, it's loud, and it's absolutely worth the trip if you're chasing real flavor over ambiance.

The only downside is the limited seating—it's really more of a takeaway operation than a sit-down restaurant. But that's part of the charm. Come hungry, come early (they get busy), and be ready to eat with your hands. This is the kind of place you'll keep coming back to for that perfect spicy fix.
